Teapot of fire and water

This was a cool project, one that I put a lot of thought into. The assignment was to redesign a common object and I got a teapot. So I decided a fire and water motif was a good idea. Especially when I realized that a flame and a drop of water have a similar shape. So if you look at it from the front it looks like a flame and from the back it looks like a raindrop.

The fire side on the left is supposed to represent heat, after all tea is usually served hot. Also, it's a reminder not to touch that side where steaming hot tea is pouring out! The water side on the right is supposed to be soothing and calm, the effect tea is supposed to have. And this side is safe to handle in order to pour the tea.

This was fun to make, although I had numerous scraches from the chickenwire I used to get the shape. The teapot itself is a bit bumpy but that's because of the stupid material that refused to lie flat. My favorite part is the lid, with the curl of flame and the whisp of water crossing over a bit.
